Helpful Resources for Prospective Members:
For those interested in joining the DAR, visit the NSDAR's How-to-Join page in the Become-A-Member section. You will find a wealth of information. You may also contact the Santa Monica Chapter REGISTRAR directly. If a blood relative (Aunt, Grandma, etc.) is or was a DAR member or if you know your Patriot's name and State of Service that is helpful in getting started; otherwise, you will need to do more research. See our LINKS page for other resources. We may have a genealogical workshop planned during the year, so contact us if you're interested.
Membership in the DAR is usually done through a local chapter, but you can also be a Member-At-Large. Members-at-Large are members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution but are not members of a chapter or their state society. There are restrictions, but you are still a member. You would pay your annual membership dues HERE. Learn more by emailing NSDAR Member Services.
Transfers and Associate Membership:
TRANSFERS: New to the area? The Santa Monica Chapter, NSDAR, welcomes transfers from other DAR chapters. If you'd like to discuss transferring your DAR membership to the Santa Monica Chapter, please contact our REGENT for information. We look forward to meeting you!
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS: After becoming a member of a DAR chapter, you may want to consider joining another chapter, anywhere around the world, as an Associate Member. If you visit the Los Angeles area every year, you may join our Santa Monica Chapter as an associate member and be invited to our local events and activities. Many DAR members join another chapter in a city where friends/family are located. Others like the idea of joining a chapter in the town or area where your patriot/s lived. Please contact our REGENT for details on joining our chapter as an associate member. Or embrace your wanderlust and join a Units Overseas Chapter.
