Our Patriot Ancestors
Every member of the Santa Monica Chapter, NSDAR, has proven direct lineage to one or more of the proven patriots shown here. Patriots are grouped by the state of service and then listed alphabetically by last name. Why do we list our patriot ancestors? Our patriots are our connections to the past! Some were never memorialized with a gravestone, marker, or monument and the final resting places of many are not known. It's one small way to ensure that their legacy will continue. We hope these names help others in their quest to prove family lineage and consider joining DAR.
In July 2026, the United States will mark its 250th anniversary. In preparation for this historic event, our chapter is creating a portfolio of our members' patriots and highlighting them with a "patriot snapshot" on this page. Please click on a linked patriot's name to learn more about the individual history of the brave men and women who helped start our new country. |
Patriots include men and women who served our country during the American Revolutionary War period as military personnel, providers of supplies, jurors, civil servants, and other types of aid to the cause of American independence. With a few exceptions, military service began with the Battle of Lexington (April 19, 1775) and ended when the British evacuated New York (November 26, 1783). A list of acceptable services that qualify an individual to be a Patriot can be found here. For help discovering your Patriot, go to our Links webpage or NSDAR Genealogy.
